  But no sign of a question visible after 120 seconds.

  But when I call 'perl Makefile.PL' directly then I do see the
  question:

  "Auto-install the 4 mandatory module(s) from CPAN". Yes, the bundled
  Module::Install is 0.68.

  But the story continues. CPAN/CPAN::Reporter do not display the
  'Auto-install the 4 mandatory module(s) from CPAN?', so Expect does
  not see it and the time passes running into a timeout. As a quick
  workaround I add the dependencies here but it's not nice to know
  that such things can happen.
